Grief interrupts us
Grief interrupts us
Grief steps into our comfort
And draws everything to a stop.
This was not on my radar, losing Dan.
I could see all we had planned, evaporating.
Years tapering into the horizon,
then the road drops away.
How do I deal with interruptions?
God's Word shows examples:
Joseph was interrupted. Jealous brothers acted, he was sold, maligned, imprisoned, exonerated, he became Pharaoh's assistant and rescued his family.
Jonah was interrupted. He ran, but a swim, a fish, and a boat ride later, he obeyed God's voice and many were kept alive!
Jeremiah was interrupted. Babylon was coming, so God calls on Jeremiah to be the warning cry to Israel, chosen before birth, set apart and appointed. Jeremiah: Oh no! I'm too young, I can't put two words together, these people scare me. Too young, too old, no difference. God prepares and uses those He calls.
Saul was interrupted on the way to Damascus, a Pharisee setting out to persecute Christ followers. A bright light, a voice, 3 days blind, and Saul becomes Apostle Paul, missionary, persecuted, church builder, writing letters to encourage Christians.
Interruptions are part of God's sovereign plan. We can't see the why at the moment, but we can trust Him to lead us. He is faithful. And He loves us.
