There are times when life can seem overwhelming
There are times when life can seem overwhelming. Times when you need to pull over and regroup, but this road doesn't have a wide enough shoulder to stop.
David felt this. In fact Psalm 57 is written while he's on the run for his life from Saul.
"Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me, for I take refuge in you. I will seek refuge in the shadow of your wings until danger passes."
David knew where to seek safety by seeking refuge in the One who knew him and his every need. The storm would pass, but God would never leave him.
"I call to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me."
God's plan would take David through some harrowing times and stressful situations, but God had a purpose and a way through.
"My heart is confident, God, my heart is confident. I will sing; I will sing praises."
David trusted God with a bold confidence that showed him that although he was in a tough spot, he would see the day when he would sing praises for all God had done.
"For your faithful love is as high as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches the clouds."
David cannot contain his joy: God's faithful love is boundless, immeasurable.
And I can find comfort here, too. I might feel like this narrow passage is relentless and challenging, but I trust God is fulfilling His purpose in this chapter of life. I can have confidence that this season will open to a new chapter where I can praise Him for all He has done guiding me here and now with His unfailing faithful love.
"God, be exalted above the heavens; let your glory be over the whole earth."
The whole earth! If I could zoom in enough, yes there I am. Looking for a turnout, a rest stop on this journey, and God is right there. His glory is over the whole earth.
